Whether the threat to commit suicide is coercion?
Suggested Answer and Working Notes:
Whether the threat to commit suicide is coercion? Suicide though forbidden by Indian Penal Code is not punishable, as a dead man cannot be punished. But Section 15 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 declares that committing or threatening to commit any act forbidden by Indian Penal Code is coercion. Hence, a threat to commit suicide will be regarded as coercion.
